NAHRIM and WKHCCA
NAHRIM was established by the Government of Malaysia in response to the country’s increasing number of water-related challenges, including floods, drought events, deteriorating water quality in rivers and coastal bodies, competing users, erosion, accretion, sedimentation, and not least, the impending anticipated impacts of climate change on water. Operating under the direction of NAHRIM’s Research Centre for Water Resources, WKHCCA SEA has building capacity in areas of water management impacted by climate change due to global warming as its goal.
Introduction
NAHRIM (National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia) has been accepted as the candidate APWF Water Knowledge Hub for Climate Change Adaptation (WKHCCA) and this has been endorsed by the Malaysian Government through a Cabinet Directive.
NAHRIM is a full government department of Malaysia, set up in the light of increasing challenges facing Malaysia in water related issues such as escalating floods and droughts events, deteriorating water quality in rivers and coastal bodies, competing users and other water related issues such as erosion, accretion, sedimentation etc, and not least the impending anticipated impact of climate change on water.

The WKH for Climate Change Adaptation is currently under the directive of the Director, Research Centre for Water Resources.
